Step 1: Set up the document size and layout

To start a new document in MainTop DTP, click on the File menu and select New. A dialog box will appear where you can choose the document size, orientation, margins, columns, and other settings. For this example, we will use the following settings:

Document size:A4

Orientation:Landscape

Margins:1 cm for all sides

Columns:3 columns with 0.5 cm gap

Pages:2 pages (front and back)

Click OK to create the document. You will see a blank page with three columns and a ruler on the top and left side. You can use the ruler to adjust the margins and columns if needed.

Step 2: Import and edit images

To import an image into your document, click on the Insert menu and select Picture. A dialog box will appear where you can browse your computer and select an image file. For this example, we will use a logo image for the front page and a product image for the back page.

After importing an image, you can resize it by dragging the corners or sides of the image. You can also move it by clicking and dragging it to a different position. To crop an image, right-click on it and select Crop. A cropping tool will appear where you can drag the edges of the image to remove unwanted parts.

To edit an image, right-click on it and select Edit Picture. A dialog box will appear where you can adjust the brightness, contrast, color balance, hue, saturation, and other settings. You can also apply filters such as sharpen, blur, emboss, etc.

Step 3: Add and format text

To add text to your document, click on the Insert menu and select Text Box. A text box will appear where you can type your text. You can resize and move the text box by dragging its corners or sides.

To format your text, use the toolbar at the top of the screen. You can change the font type, size, color, alignment, spacing, etc. You can also apply styles such as bold, italic, underline, etc.

For this example, we will add a title for the front page using a large font size and a bold style. We will also add some bullet points for the features of our product using a smaller font size and a regular style.

Step 4: Save and print your brochure

To save your document, click on the File menu and select Save or Save As. A dialog box will appear where you can choose a file name and location for your document.

To print your document, click on the File menu and select Print. A dialog box will appear where you can choose a printer and other settings such as paper size, orientation, quality, etc.
